중국소설 과목의 캡스톤 디자인 교육과정과 학술적 가치에 대한 연구

A Study on the Capstone Design Curriculum and Academic Value of‘Chinese Novel’ Subject

캡스톤 디자인은 ‘창의적 종합 설계’로 표현되며 본래 공학에서 사용되는 용어이다. 최근 들어 대학에서 융복합 교과목을 운영하고 개설함에 따라 중문학에서도 캡스톤 디자인에 기반한 교과목이 편성되었고 공학의 원리에 중문학이라는 인문학의 내용을 결합시키는 시도를 하기에 이르렀다. 이에 본 논문에서는 중어중문학과 개설 교과목인 ‘중국소설과 스토리텔링’을 캡스톤 디자인의 원리에 의해 설계하고 최종적으로는 수업의 결과물을 산출해 내는 교육과정의 운영과 그 실례 및 학술적 의의에 대해서 서술하였다. 실제로 이 수업은 교수자와 학습자가 매 시간 토론을 통해 과제를 설정하고, 과제 해결 방법을 모색하는 상호작용에 기반하였다. 또한 이 수업에서는 중국소설을 원자료로 삼아 현대 문화산업의 각 분야, 즉 보드게임, 광고, 앱, 스토리 북, 어린이용 캐릭터 등의 산출물을 만들어 내었고 이들 산출물을 공개 전시하는 것으로 마무리 되었다. 결론적으로 캡스톤 디자인 기반의 ‘중국소설과 스토리텔링’ 수업은 무엇보다도 인문학적 아카데미즘과 현대문화산업이라는 실용의 영역이 어떠한 방식으로 조화를 이룰 수 있는 지에 대해 실례를 제시하는 데에 그 의미가 있다고 판단된다. 나아가 캡스톤 디자인이라는 공학과 중국소설이라는 인문학의 융합적 시도를 통해 중국소설이 지닌 현재적 가치를 확인할 수 있었고 향후 중국소설의 학문적 영역을 확장하는 데에 기여할 것으로 기대된다.

The term ‘capstone design’ is an expression that is used as a “creative comprehensive plan” and a term that is normally used for engineering purposes. However, Universities today manage and establish these convergence education to study the Chinese literature which also follows the trend to offer coursework based on capstone design; this attempts the way to unite theory and the content from engineering and the study of Chinese literature. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to give a description of “Chinese novel and storytelling”, which is a layout by capstone design and eventually produce the output from the course by giving practical examples and curriculum managements. During the course, tutor and the tutee were able to correlate each other setting a task and to try find a solution of the problem through a discussion. In addition to this, the course was able to produce a public display and many outputs in cultural industry such as board game, advertisement, application, story book and figure for children by using Chinese novel as a key source material. In conclusion, “Chinese novel and storytelling” by capstone design has meaning and showing the way of practical examples of how literary academism and cultural industry can be in harmony. By extension, attempt of fusioning capstone design and Chinese novel, we are able to find and manifest the value and may be able to contribute academic territory of Chinese novel hereafter.
