The Eurasia Initiative Strategy and Future Directions for the TKR-TSR Connection Project

유라시아 이니셔티브 전략과 TKR-TSR 연결

그동안 유라시아 지역은 지리적 이점을 가지고 있음에도 불구하고 정치적 역사적 배경에서 소외되어 왔다. 그러나 지난 몇 년 동안 유라시아 지역에 대해 러시아와 미국이 관심을 보이고 있으며 우리나라도 지난 정부에서 유라시아 이니셔티브 전략을 대두시켰고 현 정부에서도 기존의 전략을 이어가기로 했다. 특히 한국의 경우 동북아 지역과 유럽을 연결시킬 수 있는 지리적 이점에도 불구하고 남북한의 정치적 단절로 인하여 허브국가로서의 위치를 확보하지 못하고 있다. 이에 우리나라는 유라시아 지역을 활용하여 국가적 차원의 경쟁우위 확보가 필요한 시점이다. 그러나 본 전략을 훌륭히 수행 하기 위해서는 먼저 TKR과 TSR 연결이 션결과제이다. 이에 본 연구는 유라시아 이니셔티브 전략과 TKR-TSR 연결에 대한 정책방향을 제시하고자 한다.

The Eurasia Initiative Strategy is a plan to create a foundation for economic vitalization and job creation through economic cooperation among Eurasian countries. It also aims to ease the tension in the Korean Peninsula and form a basis for unification by inducing the opening up of North Korea through close collaboration with Eurasian countries. The Strategy was officially announced by the president of Korea at the Eurasia International Conference held in Seoul in October 2013. In sum, this study offered strategic implications for the expected effectiveness and development direction of the TKR-TSR, which is still in its nascent stage. It also highlights the importance of logistics infrastructures that can revive the once glorious Silk Road by improving the South–North Korean relationship. These implications are also applicable to private companies hoping to penetrate Mongolia and Central Asia’s markets and serve as the foundation for logistics-related research from the viewpoint of the TKR-TSR, which is currently lacking.
