As well known, The Russian language has preserved an Indo-European synthetic-inflexional structure, although considerable levelling has taken place, and the Russian language is classified as a hard target language in terms of learning difficulty. Furthermore, the learners of a foreign language are suffering not small difficulties due to the interference of their mother language. In this respect this study aims to make a typological comparison of the parts-of-speech system between Russian and Korean, and through this contrastive study we can guess what problems the Korean native speakers have in recognizing the syntactic and semantic structures of a Russian word(s). Language differs in the fundamental classification of their words: many languages even lack some or more parts of speech. It implies no one can assert that the concept of parts of speech necessarily exist universally in any language. It appears explicitly, in general, within the scope of Indo-European family of language as a specific grammatical category.
