Traditions of Islamic City and Its Cultural Modernization - focused on the cases of Dubai and Abu Dhabi -

This paper is designed to study the characteristics of some of the major Islamic cities, and to analyze their cultural situations, policies and traditions. In order to understand the characteristics of some of the major Islamic cities, this paper tries to offer some information of their past & present history and changes. In the chapter Ⅱ, the traditional characteristics of the old Islamic cities are presented. Their traditional characteristics are related with Islamic religion, culture and politics. In the chapter Ⅲ, the modern cultural characteristics of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates are presented. Its characteristics are summarized as the best in the world, the highest in the world, and the greatest in the world. In the chapter Ⅳ, the modern cultural characteristics of Abu Dhabi are presented. Its characteristics are summarized as the most beautiful in the world and the most modern design in the world. In the chapter Ⅴ, the grouping of the world cultural cities and their cultural characteristics are presented. This paper shows some case-study of the famous cultural cities in the world. They are Paris, Bilbao and Hongkong. In conclusion, this paper suggests some directions and alternatives to make some of the Korean cities more systematic cultural cities.
