청소년의 정당한 세상에 대한 믿음 척도 타당화

Validations of the Belief in a Just World Scale for Adolescents

본 연구에서는 서울 소재 3개 고등학교 재학생들을 대상으로 수행한 399명의 설문자료를 토대로 청소년의 정당한 세상에 대한 믿음 척도의 타당도를 검증하고자 하였다. 정당한 세상에 대한 믿음 척도는 ‘개인적 믿음’ 요인과 ‘일반적 믿음’ 요인 총 2개의 하위요인으로 구성되어 있다. 본 척도의 구인 타당도 검증을 위해 확인적 요인분석을 수행한 결과, ‘개인적 믿음’ 요인(6개 문항)과 ‘일반적 믿음’ 요인(5개 문항)으로, 총 11개 문항, 2개의 하위요인으로 본 척도가 적합하게 구성되어있다는 것이 검증되었다. 또한 본 척도의 수렴 타당도 검증 결과, 본 척도는 자아존중감 및 부모 정당성 경험과 유의한 정적 상관을 보였으며, 신경증성과는 유의한 부적 상관을 보였다. 마지막으로 정당한 세상에 대한 ‘개인적 믿음’ 요인과 ‘일반적 믿음’ 요인이 서로 구별되는 개념으로 구성되어 있는지 확인하기 위해 자아존중감, 신경증성 및 부모 정당성 경험에 대한 본 척도의 예측력을 살펴본 결과, ‘개인적 믿음’ 요인의 예측력은 ‘일반적 믿음’ 요인을 통제하고 난 후에도 유의한 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구를 통해 타당도가 입증된 정당한 세상에 대한 믿음 척도가 국내 교육 환경에서 청소년의 정당한 세상에 대한 믿음 관련 연구를 수행하는 데에 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

This study was to validate the belief in a just world scale(BJWS) for adolescents. Three hundreds and ninety-nine high school students in Seoul, Korea, were participated in this study. The confirmatory factor analysis confirmed that the BJWS formed the two factors(i.e., Personal belief, and General belief) with 11 items in satisfactory model fit indices. Convergent validity was supported through correlations among two factors of the BJW, self-esteem, neuroticism, and the experience of parent justice. Moreover, personal just world belief significantly predicted self-esteem, neuroticism, and parent justice experience. This pattern of results persisted when general just world belief effect were controlled. Overall, these results in this study supported the validity of the BJWS, and it was expected that the BJWS could be utilized to measure the belief in a just world for adolescents in educational context.
