일본어 사과표현 「すみません」의 발화와 지각

The Production and Perception of the Apology Expression Sumimasen

この研究は謝罪表現｢すみません｣の発話と知覚について日本人と韓国人 学習者の相違を音響音声学的手法で分析․考察している。その結果、発話持続時間の側面では日本人と韓国人学習者の著しい相違は見られなかったものの、知覚判定には相違が見られた。日本人から確実に低い判定律を得た発話の場合は｢せ｣の時間長が長いという特徴が明らかであった。韓国人から低い判定律を得た場合は、日本人より特徴が明らかというわけではないが、25%の判定律であった場合の発話は全体発話の持続時間が他の発話に対し著しく短かった。なお、ピッチ(F0)の変動は大体日本人の方の変動幅が大きく、｢す｣→｢み｣と｢み｣→｢ま｣にかける下降現象は韓国人の男性に限って見られた。知覚判定の側面では日本人がピッチの変化よりは｢せ｣の持続時間を重んじる傾向を見せている。これに対し、韓国人は文末の｢せ｣と｢ん｣を合わせた長さが全体発話に比べて短い場合と、短くない場合でもピッチの変動幅が確実に大きい場合には判定率が低下する傾向があった。従って、韓国人はピッチの変動幅が大きくない上、文末の持続時間が短くない発話を、日本人はピッチの変動幅やパターンよりは文末の｢せ｣の時間長が同等レベルか短い発話を心からの謝罪と判定していると思われる。

This article presents an acoustic phonetic analysis of differences between the Japanese people and the Korean learners of Japanese in the production and perception of the apology expression sumimasen. As for the utterances which were certainly low rated by the Japanese participants, the duration of se is clearly long. As for the utterances which were low-rated by the Korean participants, the whole duration of an utterance is significantly longer in the 25% rated utterances than in the other utterances of the category. Furthermore, the variability of the F0‐pitch is mostly larger in the Japanese participants, and the downward phenomena exemplified as “su>mi” and “mi>ma” are attested only in the Korean male participants. In the case of perception judgments, the Japanese participants tended to lengthen se, rather than inducing a change in pitch. By contrast, the tendencies observed for the Korean participants are (i) that the duration of the sentence‐final combination of se and n is short with respect to the whole duration of the utterance and (ii) that, if the duration of se and n is not short, judgment rates decline when the variability of pitch is clearly large.
