A Study on the Change of Industrial Structure in Jecheon after Foreign Exchange Crisis

The result of analyzing the change of industrial structure before or after 2000 after the Foreign Exchange Crisis in ooder to explore the objective feature of the regional economy of Chechon. First, the reputation of the regional economy of Chechon is getting decrceased from the whole country or the economy of Chungbuk province. Second, the industrial structure of Chechon shows that Mining & Quarrying(2.34), Construction(1.33), Public administration & defence : compulsory social security(l.24), Hotels & Restaurants(l.23), Other communily, repair & Individual service activity(l.14), Post & Telecommunication(1.11). Wholesale & retail trade, repair of motor Vehicles(1.06), Education(l.04) show that locational quotient exceeds slightly above 1 from the perspective of number of establishment. Also, Mining & Quarrying(4.08), Electricity·Gas & Water supply(2.17), Transport(1.84), Agriculture & Forestry(1.60), Hotel & Restaurants(1.27), Construction(1.24), Other community, repair & Individual service activity(1.33), Education(1.31), Wholesale & retail trade, repair of motor Vehicles(l.l9), Public administration & defence : compulsory social security(l.18), Health & Social work(1.06) show that locational quotient exceeds slightly above I fom the perspective of number of workers. Third, the areas of highly rising in the degree or specially of the regional economy of Chechon as compared between 2000 and 2004 are Agriculture & Forestry, Education. Post & Telecommunication, Mining & Quarrying, Construction. Also, the decreasing areas in it are Mining & Quarrymg. Electricity·Cas & Water supply. Health & Social work, Recreational, Cultural & Sporting aclivites. The overall results show that the factors affecting the regional economy of Chechon are not the effect of economic recession. It takes place bacause industrial structure itself like the expansion of private education, internet shopping, and billiard and the retard of electric game industry varied. Accordingly, it is urgent to give back to motivation to the regional economy in terms of focusing on this and finding new growth power which can overcome economic recession and make the regional economy get back 10 normal.
