A study of the coastal front behavior in the southern sea of Korea

In order to estimate the locations of tidal front which effect the formation of coastal front in South Sea of Korea, numerical model experiments were carried out by using POM(Princeton Ocean Model) model. The flood and ebb currents are changeable within 50m depth in the spring tide. Tidal currents flow faster in the west than in the east in South Sea of Korea. The strong tidal currents are distributed around Keoje Island in the east in South Sea of Korea. The stratification parameters when the tidal currents have maximum speed indicate 1.5~3.0 in the neap tide near Jindo Island and Geomundo Island in the west in South Sea of Korea. In the spring tide, the stratification parameters are distributed from 1.5 to 3.0 in the almost areas within 50m depth in the west and near Keoje Island in the east in South Sea of Korea.
