It is very important to analyze the transient response of torsional shafting in the design of machines with torsional shafts. In this paper, the algorithm for obtaining the transient response of torsional shafting is formulated by using the finite element-transfer stiffness coefficient method. After the results using the finite element-transfer stiffness coefficient method are compared with those using the direct integration method based on the finite element analysis, we confirm the trust of the finite element-transfer stiffness coefficient method for the transient response analysis of torsional shafting.
