Management after installation of artificial reefs around Yeosu sea - Present condition and development scheme -

It is important to manage artificial fish reefs with installation for restoration. we made survey for installation’s condition(location, amount etc.), fish community and amount of fishing net around installation area(6,142ha) of artificial fish reefs with side scan sonar and diving in Yeosu Coast of Korea. Number of the total installed and found artificial reefs is defined 46,872 and 39,003 (83.2%) artificial reefs, respectively. Observed artificial reefs is dominant dice type(19,663) and is the most of them in Geomun and Keumo islands. In addition, biological monitoring is shown that it is composed of fouling or settlement of marine communities in most of the artificial reefs. Most marine wastes around artificial reefs area are sort of the fishing gear such as net, rope, and fish trap. Also, marine wastes around artificial reefs are totally 41.82 ton less than 40 m depth in Yeosu.
