The fluctuation in the abundance and species composition of fish was investigated using stow nets in the coastal waters of Yeonggwang-gun, Chollanam-do, Korea, July, August, September, and October in 2005, April and May in 2006. A total of 8,842 fishes were sampled and classified into 9 orders, 19 families, and 38 species. The dominant orders were Perciformes, including 9 families and 21 species, followed by Clupeiformes including 2 families and 8 species and Pleuronectiformes including 2 families and 3 species. Among the appeared 38 fish species, Nibea dliacanthus was the dominant occupying 12.37%, followed by Setipinna taty (782 ind., 8.84%), Pennahia argentata (688 ind., 7.78%). Engraulis japonicus, Setipinna taty, Thryssa kammalensis, Sillago sihama, Leiognathus nuchalis, Pennahia argentata, Collichthys lucidus, Nibea dliacanthus, and Pampus echinogaster were appeared over 500 individuals. The nine species were 5,668 individuals and occupied 63.10%. The evenness, diversity, and dominance indexes were 0.726~0.927, 1.631~3.018 and 1.701~5.068.
