Implications of the German employment policy for the disabled in Korea

This study aims to find the implications that the German general employment policy is having upon the severely disabled in Korea. This study compares and analyzes the employment conditions of the severely disabled in Germany and Korea, indicating the reality of the poor employment conditions for the severely disabled in Korea. Subsequently, the German general employment policy for persons with disabilities, an excellent foundation for the employment condition for persons with severe disabilities, is examined on the whole. The explanations for the following are made: the background for the development of general employment policies centered upon the severely disabled in Germany; detailed analysis of various institutions; analysis of the public organizations managing these policies and the amount of resources inputted in this field. In conclusion, this study discusses how the Korean system may be reformed for the improvement of job opportunities and working conditions of the severely disabled, in consideration of the much advanced policy of Germany.
