Job-Related Expertise and Service Evaluation

This study has been undertaken to probe how expertise is associated with evaluation. Examining the data collected from the sample of 189 homecare workers in Daegu, Korea and 233 homecare workers in Osaka, Japan, we analyzed the relationship between homecare workers job-related expertise (accounted for by knowledge, skills, and information about clients) and service evaluation (accounted for by self-evaluation by homecare workers themselves) from a comparative perspective. The major results of this study are as follows: 1. homecare workers expertise is positively related with their evaluation of service provided to clients in both countries. 2. The level of Japanese homecare workers expertise is much higher than Korean counterparts.
