자녀와의 사회적 관계망 특성이 노인의 우울에 미치는 영향

The influence of social network with children on depression in older adults

본 연구의 목적은 노인들의 자녀와의 관계망과 우울의 관계를 검증하여 노인의 우울을 감소 시키고 자녀와의 관계망을 촉진시킬 수 있는 개입 방안을 제시하는데 있다. 분석을 위해 전라북도에 소재한 노인시설의 재가서비스를 이용하는 65세 이상 노인 271명을 대상으로 1:1면접방식을 통해 자료를 수집하였다. 분석 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 노인들의 교육 수준, 신체적 건강상태가 노인들의 우울수준과 관계가 있는 것으로 나타났고, 둘째, 노인의 자녀와의 접촉 빈도와 자녀와의 근접성도 노인의 우울수준과 관계가 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 마지막으로 사회적관계망의 긍정적 기능과 부정적 기능 두 가지 모두 노인 우울정도와 관련이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구 결과를 기초로 정책적․실천적 함의를 제안하였다.

The purpose of this study is to propose necessary intervention which can decrease the depressed symptoms and to improve positive relationships between older adults and their children by using the test results which find the relationships between social network with children and depression in older people. Data were collected by using a face-to-face interview method from 271 older adults in age 65 and older who were using several senior centers and home care service centers in Jeollabuk-Do. The main results from this study are as follows; First, the level of education of older adults, the perceived physical health status were related to the level of elderly depression. Second, the contacting frequency between older adults and their children, the living distance also related to the level of depression. Finally, the level of positive social network function and the level of negative social network function were both related to the level of depression of older adults. Based on these results, political and practical implications are proposed.
