베이비붐 세대 자원봉사행동에의 영향요인 탐색연구

An Exploration on the Baby Boomers’ Volunteering Behavior

본 연구는 자원봉사행동에 있어 세대 간 차이가 존재하는지에 대해 관심을 갖는다. 특히 베이비붐 세대에 초점을 두면서 베이비붐 세대와 이전 및 이후 세대 간 차이가 존재하는지에 대해 실증적 검증을 행한다. 아울러서 각 세대 간 영향요인은 무엇인지를 비교의 차원에서 검증한다. 이러한 검증을 위해 본 연구는 자원봉사 참여와 자원봉사 시간에 초점을 두면서 통계청의 2011년 사회조사 자료를 토대로 Heckman Selection Model을 이용하여 분석한다. 분석결과, 베이비붐 세대는 자원봉사 참여에 있어 이전 세대와 유의미한 차이를 갖는 것으로 나타났으며, 자원봉사 참여시간에 있어 이후 세대와 유의미한 차이를 갖는 것으로 나타났다. 베이비붐 세대의 자원봉사참여에 대해 상대적으로 주목되는 변수는 소득과 교육이었으며, 단순한 참여와는 다르게 자원봉사의 질적 측면이라 할 수 있는 자원봉사시간에 대해 베이비부머는 여성인 경우, 경제활동을 하지 않는 경우, 그리고 주관적 만족감이 더 높은 경우 보다 더 많은 시간을 자원봉사에 할애하는 경향성이 있는 것으로 나타났다.

This study attempts to examine volunteering behavior (participation and time) of the baby boom generation in comparison with the younger and older generations using the 2011 Social Survey data and heckman Selection Model. The findings show that in Korea there are significant differences among three generations; baby boomers are more active in volunteering participation and time. In addition, it was found that in baby boom generation, income and education are the key predictors in volunteering participation, female, economic activity, and subjective life satisfaction are the key predictors in volunteering time. This study broadens and deepens understandings on the Korean baby boomers’volunteering behavior. It also provides foundational knowledge for future research on the Korean baby boomers’volunteering behavior.
