This study was carried out to investigate the benthic polychaetous community in the Youngil Bay, at July in 1993. Polychaetes, the dominant faunal group occupying 78.2% in the total faunal density, comprised a total of 42 species with a mean density of 526 indiv.m⁻². The number of species and density were higher in the southeastern area of Youngil Bay. This area had also higher species diversity. The dominant polychaete was Lumberineris longifolia(18.0% ), followed by Spiophanes bombyx (12.5%), and Nephtys polybranchia(11.3%). The cluster analysis revealed that the study area could be divided into two regions, the area of Hyoungsan River Mouth and the other area.
