In waters, the sun light is absorbed and scattered by suspendid solids, which takes 35 percent of the light beam attenuation coefficient. The relationship between transparensy and suspendid solids was studied from the view point of optical properties. It was found that transparency R and light beam attenuation coefficient C were able to be connected with the equation RC≈4.0. The observations of transparency and suspendid solids are carried out in Asan Lake where has no remarkable flows. The observational results are as follows; The increase of suspendid solids resulted in the reduction of transparency. And the light beam attenuation coefficient computed from RC≈4.0 was decreased as the suspendid solids rose. The average gradient of the suspendid solids and the light beam attenuation coefficient to the depths of stations was -6.7㎎l⁻¹m⁻¹ and -2.0⁻². The equation C≈0.48 SS was induced from the observational results. The changes of wind speed and cloud amount influence the transparency of waters, i.e. the increases of wind speed and cloud amount lead to the rise of transparency. On the condition of the same amounts of suspendid solids, the observations in Asan Lake did not show the change of transparency because there were low speed of wind and large amounts of cloud at the time of the observation of august 16, 1993.
