Currents at the northwestern coastal areas of Wando Island by numerical model experiments

This study presents an investigation of the currents at the northwestern coastal areas of Wando Island due to the tide. Currents were simulated by the numerical experiments with two dimensional model and tidal observations have been carried out. The patterns of the flow and residual currents at each tidal condition were reproduced by the numerical experiments. Currents flow southwest at flood tide and northeast at ebb tide in the study areas. The highest speed of the current appear at the narrow channel between Daldo Island and Wando Island. Some topographical eddies are form under the lee side of the Wando Bridge construction between Daldo Island and Wando Island at high speed of current at flood and ebb tide.
