In order to obtain the basic information for artificial seedling production of venus clam, Protothaca jedoensis, the egg development on environment condition and the water temperature influence on growth and survival were investigated during larva stage. Eggs of venus clam were demersal and 70μm in diameter after spawning. As for optimum environment condition on egg development, water temperature, salinity, and pH were 25℃, 35psu, 8. In regard to water temperature, the highest average growth and survival rates of larvae (250μm, shell length) was observed at 27℃ and 45% at 24℃. Optimum water temperature of larvae rearing was 24-27℃. On 17th day, the larvae grew up to 245μm in the shell length and survival rate was 45% when mass larvae rearing were fed by mixture of phytoplanktons (Chaetoceros calcitrans, Isochrysis galbana, Pavlova lutheri, and Chlorella ellipsoidea) in the concentration of 1-5×10⁴ cells/me at 25℃.
