Sexual Violence Experience and Coping Behaviors of Women with Disabilities in Korea

본 연구의 주요 목적은 한국에서 여성장애인의 성폭력 피해경험과 성폭력에 대한 대처 행동을 파악하고자 하는 것이다. 본 연구는 전국 장애인 실태조사(2008년) 자료에서 만 18∼64세 사이의 여성장애인을 연구표본으로 하여 이를 심층적으로 분석하였다. 로지스틱 회귀분석 결과 장애유형, 연령, 결혼상태, 외출빈도 및 차별에 대한 인식이 장애여성의 성폭력 피해경험의 위 험성을 예측하는 요인들로 밝혀졌다. 성폭력에 대한 대처행동에 있어서는 대략 40%의 장애여성이 성폭력 피해경험에 적극적으로 대처하는 반면 60% 정도는 성폭력 피해경험에 대해 소극적으로 대처하는 것으로 나타났다.

Main objectives of the present study are to examine sexual violence experience of women with disabilities and their coping behaviors in Korea. The present study selected a subset of women with disabilities aged between 18 and 64 years old in the 2008 National Disability Survey data for study sample. Both bivariate analyses and multivariate analyses found that disability type, age, marital status, frequency of outing, and perceived discrimination significantly predicted the risk of sexual violence experience of women with disabilities. Three fifths of women with disabilities passively coped with sexual violence, whereas two fifths actively coped with sexual violence.
