This study discuss the annual trend of organotin compounds in blue mussel(Mytilus edulis) after regulation in Japan, and also reveal the possible occurrence of degradation of those in its frozen tissue during storage. Blue mussels for the annual trend were collected at 1992, 1995,1996 and 1998 on Tokyo-Light and those for the stability were collected at 1998 on Tateyama in Tokyo Bay, Japan. Tissue samples were pretreated and analyzed for determination of organotion compounds by GC-FPD with tin filter. The results show that the trend of organotin compounds in blue mussels seemed to be declined after regulation, but butyltin compounds were still remained with low concentration. The concentration of organotin compounds in freezed mussel tissue was stable except tributyltin(TBT) which was slightly declined. And the mean values of organotin compounds between wet treated and dry freezed samples were almost same.
