형산강 하구의 수질특성에 관한 연구

Characteristics of water quality in the Hyungsan river estuary

To know ecological and environmental characteristics in the Hyungsan River Estuary, physical, chemical and biological parameters were investigated in “in situ” from January 1986 to December 1987, and from October 1991 to March 1992. In this area, correlatiom coefficient between water temperature and air temperature showed high value as 0.99. pH and salinity presented ranges of 7.3~7.9 and 14.5~17.6‰, respectively. Concentrations of DO, BOD and COD diffused gradually from bay to open sea. And SS presented range of 11.4~23.1mg/ℓ as average values. Chlorophyll a, b, c displayed high concentrations when phytoplankton had bloom in October. In generally, the parameters of pollution during this investigation, that already over-passed the reference value of environmental, were more enhanced than those of 1986 and 1987 years. thus it is to be expected that the pollution of Hyungsan river is more and more concentrating by domestic and industrial wastewater. According to this result, it could estimate the pollution of Hyungsan river very influenced on the ecosystem of Yeongil bay.
