A Study on the Efficiency of Shipping Routes of International Passenger Shipping Companies by Using Data Envelopment Analysis

South Korea is located in the center of Northeast Asia in geographical position and it is in a favorable position to absorb the travel and tourism demand of China and Japan. In order to activate this, it is necessary to revitalize not only air traffic networks but also maritime transportation networks. In particular, the maritime transportation network using a passenger ship, which can be a part of marine tourism itself, can be a means to meet the increasing demand for marine tourism due to diversification of tourism needs. The ferry line also has the advantage of functioning as an important intra-regional logistics network of cargo transportation. This study aims to analyze and measure the relative efficiency within the shipping routes of passenger shipping companies of north-east Asia using DEA. As a research methodology for relative efficiency of shipping routes of passenger shipping companies, CCR-I and BCC-I model is applied to 28 routes of. The findings of this study have implications for the management of shipping routes of international passenger shipping companies in Northeast Asia.
