A Survey on the Recognition of Companies in the Busan to Advance into the Arctic

In the era of the North Pole, industries in the North Pole are expected to have higher commercial value. Particularly with the opening of the Arctic Ocean, the possibility of development is increasing, centering on marine industry. Specialized in marine industry, Busan has been developing policies to serve as a business hub in North Polar regions and is considered to have high potential. However, research on the current status of strategy setting by companies in the city for entering the market has not been conducted properly. Thus, this research aims to explore awareness on the opening of the Arctic Ocean and the current status of local companies, and provide fundamental data for them to play the role of business hub in the North Polar regions. Since the research aims for a basic investigation, it conducted a survey with local companies. Through this, priority and long-term strategy were developed through awareness, expansion possibility and prospects. This is expected to promote the value of the North Pole to companies in Busan and practically investigate awareness of the North Pole and decision-making.
