The revival of pure holding company system in Japan

Japan removed the ban relating to the establishment of pure holding company from November, 1997. Pure holding company had revived first time for 50 years. Revival of pure holding company comes from “controversy about removal of a ban relating to pure holding company” from 1960’s and the strategies to cope with rapid change international and national environment for enterprises from the early 1990’s. However, with the introduction of pure holding company, there still remains the arrangement of securities and exchange law, labor law, tax law as well as commercial law and institutional complement with consideration in industrial organization as an important political assignment. As mentioned early, Japan experienced a dispute over long time and a trial and error in the process of legislation before the revival of pure holding company, but Japan has still a lot of problems in the process of implementation.
