Historical perspective of the export insurance in Korea

This study aims to historical analyze the effect for the export promotion of export insurance in Korea. The results of this study are summarized as follows. First, the expand of export credit guarantee is needed. The small size export business enterprizes are insufficient of credit. This is very big obstacles for export promotion in recent days. Second, for export insurance to be more effective in Korea’s export promotion, it is important to raise up the ratio of insured in export amount. Without cover of export insurance, export insurance can’t be used by export promotion means. Third, loss ratio of export insurance must to be constant extent over the year. Large loss in some year can cuse to insolvency of the export insurance fund. For this reason, the consequence year of the large risk can’t afford export insurance sufficiently. Finally, the amount of the fund of export insurance is not sufficient in Korea. This is very big obstacles for underwriting of export insurance.
