Correlation between the Visual Display Terminal(VDT) Usage and Eye Health of College Students

The purpose of this study is to find out the correlation between the time of using visual terminal equipment and eye health due to increased time of using visual terminal devices in college student. The reason for find out this syndrome to college student is as the visual terminal equipment come in to wide use, college students are using the visual terminal equipment as much as white-collar. The research subjects were 203, of the total subjects women were 132 of 203 subjects, and men were 71. The proportion of using computers more than three hours during the day is 86.7%, 12.8% using 4-6 hours in a day is 12.8%. Eye fatigue (83.7%), dryness of the eyes (73.9%), blurred eye 55.2% of the eyes, eye discomfort (55.1%), eye redness (35.5%), eye pain (27.1%), eye burning sensation (25.6%) is of the order. The man has an average of 2.56 of eye symptoms, women have a 4.14 one eye symptoms. Students have to reduce the usage times of visual devices, and if they use visual devices more than 1 hour, they have to have breaks about 15 minutes in the middle of the work hour. Moreover, there are needs to enforce the educational class in college of using visual terminal devices properly to prevent eye syndrome.
