A Survey of Malalignment Syndrome in University Students Using The Tytron Paraspinal Digital Thermal Scanner

The purpose of this study is to investigate incorrect posture and to give awareness of Malalignment Syndrome due to prolonged incorrect posture among university students. A total 256 H university students participated in this study. Results from the Digital Thermal Scanner demonstrated the prevalence of Malalignment Syndrome to be (56.6%) among university students. A higher percentage of women (51.7%) were found to have Malalignment Syndrome than men. Furthermore, complications of Malalignment Syndrome were more common in women. Students in lower academic years were found to have a higher rate of Malalignment Syndrome. Overall, students majoring in Dental Hygiene had the highest occurrence of Malalignment Syndrome (95%). There is a pressing need for early prevention and care for university students in their early twenties, since this is an important period of life for maintaining long term health and forming good health habits.
