The purpose of this paper is to investigate the influence that speech rate has on English listening comprehension of the high school students in Korea. To know about the relationship between speech rate and comprehension, a study was conducted in which as data-gathering method, two kinds of listening tests at the same level(i.e., one is 141.3 wpm and the other 166.8 wpm) were used, and as subjects 70 high school students were chosen to participate. The results are as follows. First, when compared to the slow rate(141.3 wpm), faster rate(166.8 wpm) had not influence on the comprehension of our students by not showing the significant score difference between two tests. Second, rather than speech rate including pause, it was indicated that the number of sentence turn in each question probably played an important role in the listening comprehension.
