To investigate differences in sensation seeking tendency of Type I and Type II alcohol dependence, authors divided the people with alcohol dependence into two groups by onset age. We have examined 72 person of Type I alcoholics and 37 person of Type II alcohol dependence with demographic questions, sensation seeking questions on alcohol related problems. The results was as follows:1) There are no differences in average and maximum alcohol consumption volume, hospitalization count, legal problem, education level, family history of two groups. 2) Type II alcohol dependence showed high scores in Experience Seeking scale (ES scale) and Boredom Susceptibility scale (BS scale) and total score of 4 Sensation Seeking subscale. But, TAS scale and DIS scale showed no differences in two groups. 3) This results mean that early onset alcohol dependence pursuit new experience and is susceptible to boredom than late onset.
