This paper investigates the relationship empirically between land consolidation and agricultural productivity in South Korea. Drawing upon panel data set which consists of rice production and area of land consolidation in eight regions from 1970 to 1990, we estimate the effect of land consolidation fueled by Saemaul Undong on agricultural productivity in terms of rice production. Panel model results show that land consolidation indeed leads to higher agricultural productivity.
