Abstract: The purpose of this study was to explore different modes of knowledge-sharing in Classroom Discourses on Gases Unit of Chemistry. Data came from chemistry Ⅰ classes considering the gas unit which includes kinetic theory of gas, Graham s law, Boyle s law, and Charles law. Conceptual instruments used for examining the data were discourse patterns and knowledge-sharing modes. The results showed three modes of knowledge-sharing, including retrieving subject matter knowledge , reformulating subject matter knowledge , expansion and elaboration of understanding . It was interpreted that the modes of knowledge-sharing reflected teacher-led explanations of abstract chemistry conceptions.
