A Study on Applying Performance Assessment to Music in Special Schools for Students with Physical Disabilities

This study aimed to examine the procedure (ease of constructing assessment sheet, efficiency of scoring assessment sheet, content validity) and result (inter-rater reliability, ease of utilization, quality of feedback) of applying performance assessment to music in special schools for students with physical disabilities. To do this, performance assessment in music was conducted for 4 students attending a special school for physical disabilities in G city. After this, two teachers filled out a form which was developed to analyze the procedure and result of the performance assessment. Based on the completed form, it was concluded that the performance assessment in music in schools for students with physical disabilities was low in the degree of ease of constructing assessment sheet but high in the degree of efficiency of scoring assessment sheet, content validity, inter-rated reliability, ease of utilization, and quality of feedback. The conclusions were discussed in relation to previous research and some consideration for future research were presented.
