Development of the Checklist to Evaluate Intern Teachers Teaching Activities

Pre-service teachers usually have their first teaching-learning experience through internship in schools. Thus internship programs should provide them not only practical teaching experiences but also effective feedback from those experiences. For the pre-service teachers in science, contents knowledge of science, pedagogical knowledge for science teaching and others such as understanding of nature of science and inquiry should be considered through their internship programs. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to develop effective checklist to evaluate science teaching activities for science pre-service teachers. General checklists used in secondary schools for intern teachers were examined for reliability and validity. With the results, the checklist was revised and a few items added to make it appropriate for science teaching. By the new checklist, intern teachers can use the evaluation result of their teaching as the feedback to improve their teaching strategies and skills , and to enhance their contents knowledge, understanding of nature of science and of inquiry.
