Analysis of ‘A’ University Students Learning Experiences with Meyer s Criteria of Good Instruction

This study aims at understanding students learning experiences in good instruction offered by A university and identifying the characteristics of good instruction through content analysis of students essays. The students claimed that they perceived critical changes in their own beliefs, attitudes toward learning, and frames of thinking in the good courses. They regarded their learning through interdisciplinary instructional approaches as valuable. The characteristics drawn from the students essays correspond to the five criteria that Meyer had presented as those for good instruction. The common criteria of good instruction are 1)facilitating learning environment, 2)clarity of learning content, 3)meaning-making through communication, 4)diversity of instructional methods, and 5)individual facilitation.
