‘자유탐구’활동과 STEAM 교육에 관한 초등 교사들의 인식

본 연구의 목적은 자유탐구활동과 STEAM 교육 지도에 어떤 어려움이 있는지에 대한 초등교사들의 인식을 조사하는 것이다. 자료는 남부지방 현직 초등교사 약 150명으로부터 수집하였다. 설문지는 자유탐구활동, 지도, 스팀교육의 세 영역으로 구성하였다. 조사 결과 22%의 교사들이 자유탐구활동 지도를 위한 연수를 받은 것으로 나타났으며, 교사들의 72.7%는 지도 경험이 없는 것으로 나타났다. 융합교육에 대한 조사결과 교사의 46%는 STEAM 교육에 대하여 잘 알지 못하였고, 91.3%는 지도 경험이 없었으며, STEAM 교수를 위한 연수 이수자는 24%에 불과한 것으로 나타났다. 그럼에도 불구하고 교사의 60%는 자유탐구를 STEAM에까지 확장해야 한다는 의견에 동의한 것 으로 나타났다.

The purpose of this study was to investigate elementary teachers perceptions on open inquiry activities and STEAM Education, and what difficulties they have faced. Data was collected from about 150 in-service elementary teachers in Southern part of Korea. A questionnaire was composed of three domains; the idea of inquiry activities, instruction, and STEAM Education, The results showed that only 22% of the teachers had an experience of in-service training for open inquiry activity teaching. That is, about 72.7% of them did not have any experience of it. For STEAM, 46% of the teachers didn t know, 91.3% of them had never taught STEAM. Only 24% of them had an experience of in-service training for STEAM teaching. However, about 60% of teachers agreed on extending the open inquiry activities to STEAM Education.
