고등학교 음악교과서에 나타난 서양음악사 내용 분석 및 개선 방안

This paper explains how to western musical history in the high schools. The method of teaching and learning in the appreciation of music, which is a part of the activity field, improves the attitude to enjoy music by knowing the characteristics of musical pieces through listening to more musics. Also, it explains that appreciating music brings a deeper understanding of music by analyzing and appreciating music in a historical and cultural sense. In other words, teaching music with its history in the class leads students to a better comprehension of what the cultural and historical aspects imply and how music has been changed. So this research compares various music textbooks on the descriptive method, content, periodic division, definition of periods and relevant musical pieces and shows the teaching plan of the effective musical history based on the obtained results. It would be helpful to improve the substance of school music education.
