베네수엘라의 음악교육을 통한 사회개혁 사례연구

A Case Study on Social Reformation through Music Education of Venezuela

This study is about El Systema (or FESNOJIV), a national music education foundation in Venezuela, promoting social justice through music. El Systema is a countermeasure taken by a musician against the social reality of Venezuela heavily influenced by poverty, drugs, and youth crime and a social movement that aims to reform the society through music rather than to serve the myopic purpose of music education. This study also surveys the development background, education philosophy, and education methods of the system and analyzes the main cause of its success based on the socio-educational background in order to examine the positive influence of music education on the society. Moreover, this study investigates similar cases applied in South Korea, examines the possibility and the limitation of the South Korean El Systema, and suggests the need for research and practice in practical ways of applying the principles in South Korea.
