FTA 체결에 따른 대한민국 벌크물동량 영향분석

An Empirical Analysis of the Effects of Free Trade Agreements on Bulk Trade Volume in Korea

본 연구에서는 한국과 총 5개 국가(칠레, 페루, 싱가포르, 인도, 미국)의 자유무역협정(FTA) 발효로 인한 양자간 교역증감효과를 국내 주요항(부산항, 인천항, 평택·당진항) 및 전국항 총 벌크물동량을 대상으로 실증분석하였다. 분석을 위해 대한민국과 FTA가 발효된 5개 국가(효과집단)와 2015년 기준 벌크물동량 항만교역량 기준 상위 80%에 해당하는 10개 국가(통제집단)의 시계열 및 횡단면으로 구성된 패널자료를 활용하였다. 분석결과 FTA 발효는 전국항 및 평택·당진항 벌크물동량 증대에 기여하였으며, 교역 증대효과는 항만별로 상이한 것으로 나타났다. FTA 이외의 GDP, 인구 변수의 경우 연구 대상 항만들의 벌크물동량 증대에 정(+)의 효과를 보였으며, 거리변수의 경우 부산항 벌크물동량과 부(-)의 효과를 보이는 것으로 분석되었다. 분석을 위한 기본 방법론으로 중력모형과 패널분석을 활용하였으며, 하우스만 테스트 결과 고정효과모형이 적합한 것으로 나타났다.

Purpose : The objective of this study is to analyze the effects of bilateral FTAs on the bulk trade volume in Korea as well as at major ports in Korea including the ports of Pyeongtaek, Incheon, and Busan Research design, data, methodology : To achieve the above objective, this research use gravity model and panel analysis. With respect to this, data on 15 countries (the top 10 countries in terms of bulk trade volume and the 5 countries having a bilateral FTA with Korea) based on bulk trade volume, GDP, population, distance, and whether a bilateralF TA is concluded are collected for the period 1996 to 2015. Results : The conclusion of FTA has had a positive effect on the bulk trade volume in Korea because it eliminates trade barriers with partner countries. Conclusions : It was found that the influence of FTA conclusion differs from port to port.
