Among the scholarship of learning, it has been shown that the practical learning of Korea in the latter period of the Chosun Era had a tremendous influence from that of China especially in the Chin Dynasty. It is very interesting to find out that the Chinese influence upon the Korean learning was chiefly made through (1) firendly gatherings of scholars of both countries and (2) exchange of publications on practical learning between two nations. It is extremely difficult, however, to find out a concrete evidence of the Chinese influence upon Korea in its specific form and application. e. on what respect the Chinese influence was materialzed upon a setting of the Korean soil, on what portion of the Chinese learning was transplanted into the Korean version of the practical learning, and how much degree the Chinese influence was successful in carrying out the entirely different pattern of culture-since there has been very few study made on this particular field of cultural exchange between two countries, the whole picture has to remain to be seen. Present study is chiefly based on (1) datas of various friendly gatherings among scholars in China written dy Chung-hi Kim and (2) some of his publications concerning the practical learning. There is a vast area in the field of learning which has never been disclosed to the world especially the period preceded by Kim s publications mentioned above. Recent years I have had a keen interest in the study of the Sino-Korean cultural exchange and its influence upon the Korean scholary circle.
