The purpose of this paper is to examine the characterizes of the personnel and labor management in the early formation of the Korean firms. This study mainly examines Kyung-bang which was a textile manufacturer and New-Ilhan & Company which was a pharmaceutical company at that time with a company history book. Because it limited to collect datum. Concrete research there are as follows. Both companies as representative firms formed at that time equiped for developed a form of personnel and labor management In a way. It shows that both companies have been formed the elementary system of management such as recruitment, selection, pay system, the job classification system, training, reward and compensation, and etc. similar to those of today at that time. In this case, we may find the origin of personnel and labor management from at that time. therefore. this study on the personnel and labor management in the early formation of the Korean firms presents many suggestive points to present firms on HRM
