Air pollution is a serious problem in a modern society and it is getting worse. The international maritime organization (IMO) enacted the emission control areas (ECA) in order to decrease air pollution in 2010 and the scope of ECA will steadily extend including South Korea. Liquefied natural gas (LNG) is one of the most desirable fuels and has exhibited quite a sustainable demand for the last four decades. Such increased demand for LNG has redounded to a brisk LNG trade through various ports but which creates challenges in port safety. Given this reality, port supply chain risk management is one of the critical issues in international trade and logistics. Therefore, the paper tries to examine LNG port supply chain risk management from an international trade and logistics perspective by applying an integrated and exhaustive study to port security and safety. This paper provides a general overview of supply chain risk management, LNG characteristics, and LNG supply chain. LNG marine terminals safety and security risks are investigated and analyzed from a logistics and supply chain perspective. Finally, A standard framework for port supply chain risk management (SFRM) is proposed based on a critical review of extant literature and is actually designed to address LNG maritime and port related risks and threats.
