An Effect of Entrepreneurship, Technology Readiness, and Technical Commercialization Capability on the Perception and Intent to Use of the Fourth Industrial Revolution

At present, the Fourth Industrial Revolution that is changing the economy and industry as a whole is regarded as an opportunity and threat for SMEs that need a new growth engine in the global market. This researcher explores what factors of SMEs affect to generate intent to use the innovation opportunity and advanced technology on the expansion of the 4th industrial revolution. To meet the research purpose, this study proposed Entrepreneurship by Covin and Slevin (1989), Technology Readiness by Parasuraman (2000), and Technology Commercialization Capability by Chen (2009) on the basis of this investigation. As result of the statistical analysis of 64 Korean Domestic SMEs that are willing to participate in the global market, it is verified that the motivation for the Perception of the Fourth Industrial Revolution has been positively influenced by Entrepreneurship and Technology Commercialization Capability, whereas the motivation for the Intent to Use of the Fourth Industrial Revolution has been positively influenced by Technology Readiness and Technology Commercialization Capability. Accordingly, on the basis of these different results, this study discussed with the precedent researches and suggested practical implications regarding government’s policies supporting Korean SMEs in the conclusion.
