당뇨병 환자의 삶의 문제와 재가서비스 욕구분석

A Study on the Diabetic Patients’ Life Problems and Home Care Needs

본 연구의 첫 번째 목적은 당뇨병 환자들이 삶의 현실에서 경험하는 문제들의 내용과 심각성을 밝혀보고, 서비스의 구체적인 내용을 모색하는데 있다. 두번째 목적은 당뇨병 환자들의 재가서비스 욕구수준에 영향을 미치는 요인이 무엇인지를 밝혀 봄으로써, 서비스대상 집단을 구체화하는데 있다. 연구대상은 신촌 세브란스병원이나 원주 기독병원의 외래 및 입원환자 174명이었다. 연구결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 당뇨병 환자들이 심각하게 여기고 있는 것은 ‘일상적인 생활의 문제’보다 ‘질병과 관련된 치료ㆍ관리 문제’였다. 두 번째, 재가서비스 욕구는 질병상태와 사회적 자원의 특성에 따라서 차이를 나타냈지만, 사회인구학적 특성에 의해서는 차이를 드러내지 않았다.

This study intends to delineate the life problems associated with diabetes and to identify the diabetes patients’ characteristics affecting home care needs. The data were collected by administering questionnaire interviews with 174 diabetic patients who visited or were hospitalized at Severance Hospital or Wonjoo Medical Center. The results are as follows: 1) inconveniences and difficulties associated with treatments and management of illness are perceived as major life problems; 2) home care needs are influenced by illness conditions and social resource. Looking at our results, we discuss the prospect of how to shape the contents of service program.
