기독교 사회봉사의 비판적 고찰

A Critical Study on Christian Social Services : Its Limits and Possibilities

기독교 사회봉사의 사회복지서비스는 중복되는 영역이 많다. 교회는 교회의 본래적 사명이라는 인식하에 사회봉사에 관심이 있고, 국가는 공적부문과 민간부문의 협조체제를 만들어 바람직한 사회복지제도를 이루려고 하는 데서 공통의 관심사가 존재한다. 이런 의미에서 기독교 사회봉사의 한계성과 가능성을 비판적으로 논의하였다. 첫째, 사회봉사에 관한 교회의 역사적 전통을 교회와 국가와의 관계에서 정리하였고; 둘째, 교회의 사회적 책임의 한계성을 검토하였고; 셋째, 교회와 사회사업의 연계 가능성을 살펴보았다. 마지막으로 교회 사회봉사를 활성화를 위한 몇가지 제안을 하였다.

Many areas are overlapped between church social services and social welfare services. The church is concerned with social services in order to fulfill its mission and the state is interested in the construction of social welfare system based on partnership between public and private agencies. This paper Critically deals with the limits and possibilities of Christian social services. First, the historical tradition of church social services was studied in relationship between the church and the state. second, limits of church’s social responsibility were examined. third, possibilities of connection between the church and social work were investigated. In conclusion, some suggestions were provided in order to revitalize church social services.
