On Elimination of Minimal Link Condition via an EPP Property

This paper argues that EPP, as a property of a feature, gives rise to only Internal Merge of an element satisfying AGREE with the probe. This removes the classical notion of Minimal Link Condition as an A-movement constraint in English. I propose that Intervention effect on AGREE is induced by only the nondistinct active ψ-features(i.e., the unvalued uψ of probe or the activated ψ of goal). As a result, the intervening [Case] induces Intervention effect on neither AGREE nor A-movement. I argue that the experiencer DP potentially implicates a structural u[Case] in all languages, which plays a role of reactivating the ψ of the experiencer DP for Multiple AGREE with the higher T in raising constructions. I propose further that the potentially implicated u[Case] of the experiencer is operative only in case that the probe of the matrix T is [+multiple]. I suggest that the uψ of the T is parameterized by [±multiple] in raising constructions with the experiencer DP: (i) The uψ of the matrix T is [-multiple] in English, French and Italian, (ii) it is [+multiple] in Icelandic and Spanish, and (iii) it does [±multiple] in Korean.
