A characteristics comparison on the residential architecture used by organic architects in the Modern Age- Focused on organic character of the 19th century Romantic literature -

In the course of history, the nature has been the main sources in many designs and in architecture. The organic characteristics and principles found in nature have been a plentiful source of the inspiration of architects during history. Especially, those have been a main basis for producing and for interpreting works of art, literature and architecture during the 19th and 20th centuries must be organic appearance or sound, organic preocess, organic integration of form and content, amd organic unity with a universal mind or Oversoul. The purpose of this research is to analyze organic concept and expression in representative works of five architects(Alvar Aalto, Hugo Häring, Hans Scharoun, Mies Van Der Rohe in Europe and Frank Lloyd Wright in American) during the first half of the 20th century which had shown similar but distinctively different interpretation of ideology and concept. Organic principles and architectural characteristics were analyzed based on literature investigation and advanced research. The characteristics and aspects of the foregoing archtects organic architecture were synthesized with comprehensive case table. The results of analytical reviews will be used to suggest the strategies and guidances for the organic composition of the future of residential building. It is important to continue similar studies to show new possibility to reinterpret organic architecture contemporarily and create new ones.
