In this article, we present characterizations of the power distribution via the identical hazard rate of lower record values that X n has the power distribution if and only if for some fixed n, n ≥ 1, the hazard rate h W of W = X L(n+1) /X L(n) is the same as the haz-ard rate h of X n or the hazard rate h V of V = X L(n+2) /X L(n+1) .
