Let {X n , n ≥ 1} be a sequence of independent and identically distributed random variables with cdf F (x) which is absolutely continuous with pdf f (x) and F (x) < 1 for all x in (−∞, ∞). In this paper, we obtain the characterizations of the Gumbel distribution by lower record values.
