초록
The purpose of this study is to uncover thc reasons behind the U.S. being cho잊n as partner by Korea for a Free Trade Agreement(FT A). The primary objective of this article is to undertake a thcoretkally T1lotiva ted empirical analysis of the initia t:ion of the Korea-U.5. FT A. We examine thrce Illain Ùloories of fo reign cconomic policies. The thesis slates that while both the sysl emic and statist approaches can offer a fruitful analysis of the ratic• nalc bchind the Korea-U.5. FTA, they fai l to ullcover exactly why the Ff A was initiated (i.e., who precisely initiated it, why, and how did they do it) 까le findings of this paper suggest that the Federation of Korean Industries (FK1) plays an importanl role in answering these questions. The contribution of this paper is t hat a societal approach is necessary to u_nCQver the nuance behind such questions but that a holistic approach utilizing the three approaches offers a more complete picture
